Re: The Van Kamp Household

Post  Reed Van Kamp on Sun Apr 03, 2011 12:48 pm

Reed's mother was at a business meeting and wasn't due home for another week. Normally Reed would feel a bit lonely with a big empty house all to himself, but now he had Shane.

Alone.

In his home.

Without parental supervision.

With his boyfriend.

Reed gulped as his stomach summer salted.

(Posting order will go as follows: Reed, Shane, Blaine, Kurt and so forth. There will be a 5 day posting lull before we skip over someone.)

Shane reached up to ring the doorbell, taking a deep breath. He breathed in the cool night air and sighed. So this was happiness, was it?
It wasn't so bad. Not bad at all.
He heard the bell echo through the house, and felt his heart beginning to beat faster. He hated to admit it, but he was nervous. Because really - it was sort of weird. It was just his boyfriend. Just Reed.
It was the part about being at his boyfriend's house that scared him. Without adult supervision.
Not that Shane planned on doing anything that required adult supervision, because as much as he'd love a nice long makeout session in Reed's bedroom, he knew that Reed wasn't ready for that.
So Shane had a plan. He'd suggest to invite Blaine and Kurt over, because Shane still hadn't met Kurt. He figured this was better than some short greeting in the hallway or something.

Reed rushed to the door sliding slightly on the polished marble and flung it open. He saw Shane's eager face and pulled him inside the house.

"Shane!" He cried happily flinging himself into the younger boy's arms. Normally he would spend the day alone, the large house seeming endless, but now he had Shane here to save him from utter boredom.

Reed let go of the boy and flushed a bit. "So...this is my home."

[Lauren I love you.]

Wow. Shane's eyes widened as he took in the large front hall. And this was only the front hall. What more could there be? It was...well, the only real way to describe Reed's house was rich. It was very lavish and modern and looked like every single thing in it had cost about a thousand dollars.
"Wow." Shane tried not to look surprised, because after all, Hilde Van Kamp would definitely have a very sleek, modern house. But still.
Shane's family wasn't exactly poor, they were quite rich, but the money didn't go to furniture. It appeared that the Van Kamp's money did go to furniture.
"Wow," he said again. "This is really nice. I kind of don't want to touch anything." He laughed nervously, eyeing a vase that was precariously perched on the edge of the hall table. He shrugged off his coat and handed it to Reed. "So listen. I was sort of thinking it might be fun - not that I didn't want to hang out with you all evening or anything, that would completely rock - but I thought it might be fun to inviteBlaineandKurtover." He stood there nervously, hoping Reed wouldn't be insulted.

Reed flushed in embaressment as Shane eyed the room around him. He knew it was a lot, Hilde Van Kamp never did anything half way, and he hoped Shane wouldn't be intimidated.

"I try not to touch anything either..." he laughed, following Shane's gaze to the vase. "That vase has been replaced a total of 5 times due to my clumsiness." he shrugged, "Mother tends to keep replacements..." Reed blushed. "But nevermind that!" He caught Shane's coat stumbling a bit and hanging it on the golden coat hanger in the corner of the room.

"So listen. I was sort of thinking it might be fun - not that I didn't want to hang out with you all evening or anything, that would completely rock - but I thought it might be fun to inviteBlaineandKurtover."

Reed mentally gave a sigh of relief. He was a bit disappointed, he had been looking forward to spending time alone with the younger Anderson. At the same time he was extremely nervous at the aspect of spending time alone in his house with Shane. He knew Shane wouldn't try anything...and it wasn't that he didn't feel completely safe around Shane, but it would be nice to have some sort of comfort if things went terribly wrong. Plus it would most definitely be fun.

"You mean like a double date?" Reed asked with a small smile.

"Yes." Shane breathed a sigh of relief. He'd seen a brief flicker of disappointment in Reed's eyes, but Reed seemed perfectly alright with the plan. After all, he and Kurt were best friends. Why should he have any objections? "I'll call him."
He pulled out his phone and dialed speed dial 2. He heard it ring and when Blaine picked up, he said quickly, "HeywouldyouandKurtliketocomeovertoReed'shouse?"
His other concern had been whether Blaine would be okay with the plan.

Blaine was spending his evening with Kurt, as usual, when his phone started ringing. He saw that it was Shane and smiled apologetically at Kurt as he paused their conversation to answer it.

It took him a second to translate what Shane had said after hearing his brother talk at about a hundred words a minute, but when he realized what Shane had asked, he smiled and turned to Kurt. "It sounds like we're being invited to Reed's house," he told his boyfriend. "How would you feel about finally getting to meet Shane Anderson?"

Kurt practically squeed with delight and nodded vigerously, his eyes lighting up with excitement. He couldn't wait to meet the brother that Blaine so clearly adored.

Blaine grinned at Kurt's reaction and brought the phone back to his ear. "Sure, Shane! We're leaving now so we'll be there soon," he told his brother as he stood up and took Kurt's hand to lead him out to his car, so he could drive them both to Reed's house for Kurt to finally meet Shane.

"Are they coming?" Reed asked. He could only hear Shane's responses, and from what it sounded like, the double date was a go. He was sure Kurt would be eager to see Shane for the first time, but he couldn't help but be a bit nervous. How was he supposed to act around Shane with all of his best friend and Shane's brother around? He decided not to worry about it for now.

"Yepyepyep!" Shane exclaimed, sliding his phone closed and pocketing it. "They'll be here in a few minutes. Until then, what's on the agenda for the night?"
He wandered into the living room, and was immediately blinded by pictures of Reed. Reed in all sorts of model clothes and photographed in strange places... Shane had never understood the world of modeling, which made him wonder if maybe he wasn't exactly the best person for Reed.
"Wow, nice pictures," he commented, smirking at Reed.

Reed flushed. "Oh those...thanks I guess. I've never really been a big fan of modeling, but..." he shrugged his shoulders, "Mother insists." Reed never understood the world of modeling, and it honestly made him more than a bit embarrassed that Shane had seen the photos of him. Some of the clothing was far too uncomfortable for his tastes. He would much rather be photographing the shoots rather than modeling in them.

"Hmm well I guess we could watch a movie. Butnothingscary-" he added hastily "I just don't do well with horror films..." he laughed sheepishly remembering the nightmares he had from the last horror film he watched. He didn't want to spend the night alone in the house with those kind of thoughts rolling around in his head.

"Nope, nothing scary," Shane said, though he really liked horror movies, and since he wouldn't be spending the night alone in a house all by himself - he was staying at Dalton for the weekend - he wouldn't have any problem with it. He and Blaine used to watch horror films when they were younger - 11 or 12 - and see who could go longer without having to hide their eyes, or scream, or whatever the goal of the night was.

Blaine, fingers intertwined with Kurt's, smiled as he led his boyfriend up to the front door of Reed's large, extravagant house. "Shane's loud...and obnoxious," he warned, though there was a strong hint of adoration to his tone. "But I think you'll like him," he told his boyfriend, giving his hand a gentle squeeze before he rung the doorbell of Reed's house.

Re: The Van Kamp Household

Post  Kurt Hummel on Sun Apr 10, 2011 3:13 pm

Kurt's eyebrows rose at the picture that Blaine was painting of his brother. He tried to imagine Blaine as being loud and obnoxious and it just didn't compute. But it was fun trying to imagine. And it was clear that Blaine adored his brother despite his being "loud and obnoxious", so Kurt was certain he was bound to love Shane as well. At least he hoped so. What if he didn't...or worse, what if Shane hated him? The only one of Blaine's family that he's gotten to meet and he hates him? That would be a total disaster!

He was being absurd, he silently chided himself as he looked briefly down at the scarf he'd brought for Reed (from the new Spade spring line--he knew Reed probably already had a few himself, but the moment he'd seen it, he knew it would be perfect for his best friend) and he smiled at how silly he was being. Of course if Blaine and Reed both adored Shane, odds were he would as well...and hopefully the same would be said for Shane liking him.

"I'm sure I will," Kurt replied, reaching up to make sure his hair was smoothed perfectly in place.

The doorbell rang and Reed jumped a little. He wasn't expecting the two to arrive so early. He gave a small smile to Shane and made his way to the door. He could tell Shane was a bit nervous at the aspect of meeting his brother's boyfriend, and truthfully, Reed was a bit nervous too. He wanted nothing more than for his best friends approval of his new boyfriend.

Reed took a deep breath as he answered the door.

"Blaine! Kurt! Come on in!" he smiled and then upon noticing the scarf in Kurt's hands gasped. "Oh my Gavinchi! Is that what I think it is?"

Shane first saw Blaine, who looked calm and tranquil next to Kurt, who Shane saw next. Kurt was holding a scarf, which Reed was excited about, and he looked like he was trying very hard to look cool, calm, and collected.
His hair was absolutely perfect, and Shane wondered what it was with Dalton boys and hair being perfect at all times. He was very cute, too, but Shane already knew that. He'd seen Kurt before, in passing.
"Hi. I'm Shane." He stuck out his hand.
Wow.
Smooth one, Anderson.
Very very nice. Because he was definitely confused as to who the curly-haired kid next to Reed was.
Definitely.

Blaine smiled when he saw his brother and Reed answer the door, chuckling softly as he led Kurt inside the house. "Thank you, Shane. As if my boyfriend couldn't figure that one out on his own," he teased lightly as he closed the front door behind him.

"Well," Kurt replied pragmatically, "it was rather hard to tell considering how many curly-heads there are here..." He smiled brightly. "So thank you for the proper intruduction. I'm Kurt, since my significant other here failed to show you the same courtesy," he teased, nudging Blaine with his shoulder. He turned to Reed. "And yes, it's exactly what you think it is!" he assured as he extended the scarf out for his best friend. "I saw it and immediately knew you would appreciate it every bit as much as me, and it would go so perfectly with your eyes so you just had to have it..."

Reed couldn't contain his squeal. " Kurt! Thisissoamazingthankyousomuchou'rethegreatestfriendever!" he flung himself around Kurt for a second in happiness and then laughed. He of course had tons of scarves like this one in his closet, but it was all the more special because Kurt had given it to him. It actually meant something, and Reed was happy that he had a friend that knew him so well.

The three of them moved inside the house and Reed took their coats and hung them on the golden coat hanger in the corner. He smiled. Maybe this would all go smoothly after all.

Shane shook his head as Blaine chided him, used to this affectionate sort of teasing that his brother inflicted upon him whenever he was in the vicinity.
"So thank you for the proper intruduction. I'm Kurt, since my significant other here failed to show you the same courtesy." Shane smiled at Kurt, and opened his mouth to respond, but Kurt had already turned his attention to Reed, who was positively ecstatic about the scarf.
"I'm hungry, have you two eaten yet?" Shane asked, looking toward Blaine and Kurt before remembering that this wasn't his house and he couldn't offer food from a house that wasn't his. "Er, if that's okay with Reed..."

"You're always hungry," Blaine chuckled after thanking Reed for taking his coat. "But no, we haven't eaten yet either," he answered, looking up at his brother before turning to Reed, pleased that he liked the scarf that Kurt had picked out for him. He really didn't know what the big deal about scarves was, but he had always found Kurt's fascination with them endearing.

Kurt squeed right along with Reed; it was so great to have finally found someone who he could truly share his love of fashion and who totally understood and shared his enthusiasm. He hugged his best friend back, giggling a little bit as he caught the way Shane and Blaine were both watching Reed's reaction to the scarf. It just wasn't something he could explain; you either *got it* or you didn't. Some--like Reed and himself--were into fashion just as others--apparently like Shane, he noted with a grin--were into food. He looked to Reed. "Do you want to order something in, or if you want I can cook something here," he suggested, glancing at the others for dinner ideas.
